Hi,
I’m making an e-commerce site. I want to learn how to build my own shopping cart software. I am knowledgable in programming C++ and Java applications, but have never done anything like this. I am learning PHP and want to make my shopping cart compatible with Joomla. I am aware that there are many free solutions available, but my needs are very specific, and virtuemart, zencart and cubecart do not suffice.
Are there any books or online tutorials that you can recommend?

I don’t know about Joomla. But since u know java u can make your customized shopping cart in Servelets/Java Server Pages (JSP). All u need is session tracking.
Consult any standard JSP Book. U shall find the basic code. Then improve that code as per your requirements.
